Answers to FAQs

Do you accept insurance?

We are a fee-for-service provider, and do not accept any commercial insurance plans at this time. If your plan has out-of-network coverage, we can provide a superbill you may submit to your insurance company.  You can also use FSA/HSA funds toward the cost of your appointments.

We have chosen this model because it allows us to provide care the way it should be. We are able to offer longer appointments, have more flexibility to spend time discussing the issues that are most important to you, and provide easier access to your physician (email, text, secure messaging) to promote close collaboration.

What are the fees?

New Patient Consultation (55 min) $375

Follow-up Visit (25 min) $250

You may be able to use your health insurance to cover the cost of any recommended laboratory studies, other medical tests, or prescription medication. It is your responsibility to check your coverage for these services.

Do you prescribe GLP-1 medications?

We prescribe a variety of FDA-approved medications for weight loss, including GLP-1 medications, if appropriate and desired.

If you are interested in medications for obesity, we encourage you to check your insurance policy for coverage/restrictions. If covered, we will work with your insurance company to try to obtain authorization where possible.

Direct pay options to obtain some of the newer weight loss medications (Wegovy, Zepbound) are available directly through the pharmaceutical companies. We can help you explore the best option to obtain your prescribed medication.

Note: We do not prescribe or recommend compounded medications or obtaining medications from outside the United States.

Do I need to follow a specific diet?

No. The best diet is one that nourishes your body, appeals to your taste preferences, fits into your lifestyle, and is one you can stick with long term. Dr. Altepeter will work with you to develop an eating plan that is medically and nutritionally sound to help you achieve your goals.
